Define Hospitality: Ask the Designer, Interior Designer Magazine

Ask the Designer, Interior Designer Magazine

Emma Gullick, our Associate Director, dished out her opinion so to speak within May’s ‘Ask the Designer’ feature inside Interior Designer Magazine.

Emma was asked ‘In this world of members’ clubs, luxury hotels, immersive F&B offerings and new age co-working spaces, how do you as a designer, define hospitality?’. Here’s Emma’s response:

Creating an inviting, warm and welcoming atmosphere will never go out of style and goes a long way towards building loyalty and encouraging repeat visits. We are emotional creatures and, whilst technology-rich, immersive experiences may be ‘Instagrammable’, they’re not necessarily accompanied by great service. You also have to be responsive to changing customer needs. Recognising the more conscious consumer, for example, London’s Hilton Bankside now offers a luxury, 100 per cent vegan suite with every detail considered, right down to the housekeeper’s eco-friendly detergent.
