The iconic Vivienne Westwood platform shoe was originally debuted in Spring/Summer 1985 as part of the brand's 'Mini-Crini' show and then presented again in the Harris tweed Autumn/Winter 1987/88 show.  The Harris Tweed collection took inspiration from traditional Saville Row patterns and satirically presented bold prints alongside accessories and the now famous Rocking Horse shoe.   Covent Garden's Galeria Melissa have dedicated their entrance to a unique shoe chandelier surrounded by seamless screens. The myriad of moving colours, fabrics and patterns are visible from the street and form a dynamic introduction to the designer collaboration. Melissa have applied their signature recyclable plastic upper to the Rocking Horse Ballerina base, complete with satin ribbon ties for a modern take on the designer classic.

The basement of the Galeria has been transformed to create a wall to wall homage to the Harris Tweed collection, complete with a giant Rocking Horse Ballerina platform. Customers are even encouraged to ride the 'rocking horse'. The ornate traditional building, wooden staircase and muted palette leading downstairs makes a statement before the visitor has even entered the basement space.

Melissa are not new to the world of designer collaborations and have worked with fashion favourites Gareth Pugh, Jeremy Scott as well Brazilian furniture design duo the Campana Brothers. The ever-changing installations have secured the space as a destination and keep the store current.
