Dressed Up Pets

Five of the most fashion-forward dog-influencers to keep on your radar

30% of young pet owners in the UK feel that it’s important for their pet to keep up with clothing and grooming styles (Mintel, 2020).

There is a growing list of brands experimenting in the niche but growing market of pet fashion, including the likes of luxury labels Moncler and Moschino, as well as high street retailers like H&M, River Island and Primark. The petwear market is proving to be a lucrative and still largely untapped market for many apparel brands.

As part of a 6-part series on creative future approaches to retail, our designers looked at reimagining the future of Pet Shops. Inevitably, Pet Shops will be affected by the petwear movement in years to come with the boom in both pet ownership and pet-related purchases driving demand.

Below are 5 influencers that are worth keeping a close eye on for the lighthearted moments they deliver over social media.

Boobie Billie, New York

New York-based Italian greyhound and chihuahua mix Billie – or Boobie, as she is affectionately known – is more of a mogul than a mere influencer. Having founded her eponymous human-sized accessories line in 2020, she has big plans to bring her distinctive and colourful taste to the masses – for both pets and their owners alike.

Ducky, California

First gaining attention after a TikTok of him dressed as Harry Styles went viral, California-based Yorkshire terrier Ducky has made a name for himself by recreating the iconic outfits of beloved celebrities and fictional characters. From Billie Eilish to Toy Story’s Woody, Ducky’s owner and lifestyle influencer Christine Hsu takes suggestions from fans on costume ideas and recreates them using a mix of custom-made and store-bought pieces.

Honey, Oslo

Oslo-based Italian greyhound Honey is a true diva when it comes to four-legged fashion. Much less curated and decidedly more playful than many of her peers, both Honey’s Instagram and TikTok accounts offer a behind-the-scenes look at her day-to-day life – from chasing a Frisbee to bath time – and her fashionable accessories feel more like a cute and novel extension of her true personality.

Lloyd, London

Proving that dog-fluencers don’t always need a cute and kitschy aesthetic to be popular, London-based Italian greyhound Lloyd’s sleek, monochrome feed would bring envy to even established human tastemakers. His grey fur is offset by shades of black, white and beige, bringing a chic and classy minimalism to his style, and his travel-heavy content evokes an elegant and luxurious sense of wanderlust.
